Hands On Museum

Today Matthew and I took a field trip to the Hands On Museum in Ann Arbor with our friends Christine and Andrew.  The boys had a lot of fun.  They enjoyed playing with the magnetic rock wall, fishing in the water, pretending to drive the ambulance, going in the giant bubble maker, and playing in the preschool water table.  We will definitely be going back there!

Waffles

My mom makes the best waffles.  She has makes a great "waffle sauce," which is basically a vanilla pudding to put on top of the best homemade waffles.  We often had them for dinner when I was growing up.  Matt loves them too, but since Dan doesn't like breakfast for dinner I make them for breakfast.

Fun in Snow

While we were up north we also had some fun playing at Grandma & Grandpa Mooradian's house.  Matt really liked Grandpa's "Billy Bass" that sang corny songs.  He would sit in the little rocking chair and just keep saying "more" so you would push the button again.  He was scared to get too close to it so you had to push the button for him.  We also spent some time sledding down a tiny hill on the back of their yard.  The snow wasn't very good, but we still had fun.  Matt also liked the horses at the neighbors house and kept neighing at them.

Avalanche Bay

We headed up north to Elk Rapids for the weekend.  On Saturday we took a road trip to Avalanche Bay, the indoor water park at Boyne Mountain.  Matt had a lot of fun.  We met Hannah, Jason, Andrew, & Nicklas there as well as some of Jason's siblings and their families.  Matt really liked the water slide.  My pregnant state made it near impossible to carry him across the ropes course to get to the slide that he could ride so Dan took him down.  The also had a great kiddy pool with basketball nets that Matt liked and a slide.  The lazy river was fun too.  It was a great day.

Fun with Dad

Matt loves to play with Daddy after dinner.  One of his favorite activities is riding Dan like a horse.  Matt pushes him down until Dan is flat on the ground and Matt can climb on his back.  He has so much fun, but I am glad he hasn't figured out that Mom can play horsey too! He also likes to build tall "towers" out of his blocks.  I love when he stands on his tip-toes to add more blocks.

Matt's swimming lessons

Matthew started swimming lessons today at Goldfish Swim School in Birmingham.  He loved it. Of course, he was shy and quiet as he is in most new situations, but I think he really liked the activities.  The pool was very warm which was nice for both of us!  His favorite activities were playing with the cups (just like his bath) and going down the slide.  He cried when it was time to leave.  It was too hard to take pictures since I had to get in with him, but maybe next week I will try.

Fountain Hills, AZ

Dan, Matthew, & I headed out to his parent's condo in Fountain Hills, AZ after Christmas to escape the cold and spend some quality family time together and with Dan's parents.  The weather was a little chillier than expected so we found some great activities to keep us entertained.  We went to a great train park in Scottsdale.  They had a miniature train that you could ride around the park, a carousel, a train museum, and a large playground.  One day we went to the Phoenix Zoo.  The best part was feeding the giraffes.  They also had a great walk-in monkey exhibit and petting farm.  We also went to a children's museum in downtown Phoenix.  Matt's favorite part was the pretend grocery store.  They also had a pretend kitchen, tricycle wash, art room, race track and more.  We did manage to get in two days of swimming.  Matt loved the pool. The water was very warm, but it was cold getting out.
Dan and I had the opportunity to play tennis while Matt was napping since his parents were around to keep an ear out in case he woke up.  Dan won every match, but pregnancy is my excuse.  In spite of my defeat it was fun to be back out on the court. Matt was amazing on both flights.  On the way to Arizona we had an evening flight so once we got moving he slept on our laps.  On the way home he only slept about a half hour of the three and a half hour flight, but the rest of the time he was content to sit and play quietly.
