Chicago

This past weekend we drove to Chicago to visit some friends for the weekend.  We got to the city on Friday evening and met Dan, Katie, Alex, Andy, Terri, & Brian at their favorite pizza place in Lincoln Park.  Matt did great even though it was WAY past his bedtime and he only napped for 30 minutes in the car.  On Saturday morning we went to our favorite breakfast spot which was only a block from our hotel.  I have no idea how to say the name, but it is called Pierrot Gourmet.  We then headed over the Navy Pier to the Chicago Children's Museum.  We got there before it opened so beat the crowd a little bit, but it was really busy when we left.  Matt had a lot of fun and was good that he could run around and burn off some energy.  We went to Rock Bottom Brewery for lunch and then back to the hotel for a nap.  That night we headed out to John & Heather's house which was about an hour outside the city.  It was so nice of them to host and great that we got to see everyone.  John, Heather, and Aubrey of course were there as well as Alex, Kathleen & Henry, Brian, Jen & Gavin,  Dan, Katie, & Ben.  Matt did great again staying up late.  He was very intrigued by their dog and that kept him entertained most of the night.  He even ended up petting her before we left.  Sunday morning we went to Pierrot Gourmet again before heading out.

The Cousins

Last week we had a play date with Reece & Grant.  We have been getting together every couple weeks since the boys were born.  The boys play for a while,  we have lunch, and then head home for nap time.  We take turns hosting and this time we were at Andrea's.  Andrea, Melissa, & I are all pregnant again due this spring/summer so we are  looking forward to the next round of cousins to join the fun.

Zoo

Dan had the day off today so we decided to take a family trip to the zoo.  I have been meaning to go for awhile now, but haven't been motivated to brave the cold weather.  We had a great time and saw a lot of the animals up close in their indoor winter habitats.

The Heart of a Child

Saturday night Dan and I attend The Heart of a Child fundraiser dinner and silent auction at The Rock Financial Showplace in Novi.   The Heart of a Child is a non-profit organization that raises money to support Cardiovascular Surgery Research at Children's Hospital of Michigan.  We shared the evening with Hannah and Jason, Chuck & Heidi and Scott & Erika (Heidi's sister and brother-in-law).  It was Heidi's 3oth birthday so Chuck surprised her with a cake

Last week we got 8 inches of snow one day.  Matt and I had fun playing outside.

Matt's Room

So another goal of mine for the new year (besides starting this blog) is to make time to do creative things.  I think that will get increasingly challenging around April or so when the new baby is born.   Here are a couple projects that I have been working on lately.  I have been trying to move Matt into his new "big boy room" so that I can start pulling out all the baby stuff that has been crammed into his closets.  His room isn't totally done, but he started sleeping in there yesterday after my dad came over to repair his crib that I broke during the moving process.  So far he doesn't like it so I hope that changes soon!

Playdate

This past weekend the Brzezinski's and Hull's came over for a little playdate.  Now that we are old and have kids we get together after naps so the kids can play for a little bit,  then have dinner, and are home in time for bedtime.

30 wks

I am 30 wks pregnant this week.  We had a fetal echocardiogram done on Tuesday.  They said everything looked great.  They also did some measurements of the baby.  They estimated that it already weighs 3lbs 10 oz (75th percentile) and they could already see hair on its head.  I am guessing/hoping that it comes a little early!

Finally Snow!

Well, we finally got some snow!  A lot of people in Michigan complain about the winter cold.  I really don't mind the cold as long as we have some snow to play in and make everything look fresh and white.  It hasn't snowed in awhile, but yesterday we finally got an inch or two.  Just enough to have some fun today before most of it melted.  Matt loves to ride in his sled and still likes the swing.  He also loves our neighbor's dogs, Tilly & Tanker.  He was hoping they would come out to play while we were outside, but they didn't today.

Dashy Crayons

We went to Matt's friend Andrew's house last weekend for his 2nd birthday party.  It is hard to believe that his friends are already 2!  Andrew gave Matt the cutest dachshund crayons.  Matt at this point has a two minute attention span for coloring, but he love to get the crayons out of their "house" and put them back in.
